This is a working portfolio of wedding and event décor in Ottawa — nikah stages, mehndi setups, barat and walima builds, mayon and dholki nights, engagement and aqiqah gatherings, and the individual pieces we make by hand. Every photograph is a real event in a real Ottawa room.

Wedding décor ideas by ceremony

The work is grouped by ceremony because that is how couples search for it. Someone planning a nikah wants nikah stages and divider curtains, not a general wedding gallery — and the design requirements genuinely differ from one event to the next.

Nikah décor here runs from ivory jersey drape and pearl-white two-panel backdrops through to the traditional royal red stage, with Arsi Mushaf mirrors, dressed signing tables and freestanding divider curtains for families observing separate seating. Mehndi and mayon move to marigold garland curtains, mirror-worked Rajasthani umbrellas, floor seating with bolsters and appliqué sheets, and takhat and darbari arrangements. Barat is the largest build of the week — full-width stages in red and gold, plus the decorated doli car. Walima and reception work is the most formal: ivory and blush drape, white wisteria, floating candles and full-room table styling.

Ottawa venues you will recognise

These setups were built in the rooms Ottawa families actually book — masjid multipurpose halls, banquet centres including Sala San Marco and the Infinity Convention Centre, community centres across Kanata, Barrhaven, Orléans and Gloucester, restaurant private rooms, and a great many living rooms, finished basements and back gardens.

That range is deliberate. A stage built for a 23-foot convention-centre ceiling and a backdrop built for an eight-foot Nepean basement are different objects, and seeing both is more useful than seeing a single flattering venue repeated. Our Ottawa venue guide covers what each room does to a build.

Palettes that work under Ottawa hall lighting

Most Ottawa banquet halls run warm, yellow-heavy lighting that flattens cool colours. That is why red and gold, marigold and multicolour appear so often in the barat and mehndi work here, and why the ivory and blush palettes are reserved for walima and nikah where the lighting is usually controlled. If your venue has coloured DJ lighting, pastels wash out entirely — a point worth checking against these photographs before choosing a palette.

Handmade pieces, photographed close

Alongside the room builds are the pieces we make individually: gotta-worked and beaded sehras, LED-lit entry dupattas, real-flower jewellery and mums bangles, varmala and haar garlands, decorated thal and mithai tokras, nikah pens and favour boxes, and Pakistani truck-art car décor. These are shot close because that is how they are seen — worn, carried and handled rather than viewed from across a hall.

Nothing here is a styled shoot

Every image is from a booked event, which is why some contain guests, cables, coats and Ottawa weather. We publish them that way on purpose. A portfolio of empty, perfectly-lit rooms tells you what a studio can produce with unlimited time and no guests; this tells you what actually gets built on a Saturday with a two-hour access window.
