Guests will photograph themselves somewhere. The only question is whether it is a backdrop you designed or the corridor by the washrooms.
A dressed photo point solves that, and it is one of the least expensive additions to any event.

Where to put it
Not next to the dance floor and not in a traffic route. A photo point needs a metre or two of clear space in front and somewhere people can queue without blocking service.

It doubles as décor
A well-built photo wall is décor whether or not anyone is standing in front of it. That is why we recommend a dressed backdrop over an equipment-only booth for most Ottawa events — it works all night, not just when someone is queuing.
Where the photo point goes decides whether it gets used
Almost every unused photo backdrop we have seen at somebody else's event failed for the same reason: it was in the wrong place.
It needs about two metres of clear floor in front of it, so people can stand back far enough to get a full-length shot. It needs to be out of the traffic route between the bar, the food and the washrooms, or the queue blocks service and staff start asking people to move. And it needs light on the front of it — a beautifully lit backdrop with an unlit subject standing in front produces silhouettes.

What we actually supply — and what we do not
We build the photo point: a freestanding backdrop or flower wall, the lighting, the props, and signage mounting. We do not supply camera-and-printer booth equipment or an attendant.
That is a deliberate line, and worth being straight about. At almost every event we work, guests photograph on their phones regardless of what equipment is present — so the thing that determines the quality of those hundreds of images is the backdrop and the light, not a printer.
If you specifically want printed strips or a guestbook of prints, book a booth supplier and we will build the backdrop they stand in front of. We work alongside them regularly.

It has to work as décor when nobody is standing there
A photo point is occupied for maybe fifteen minutes of a five-hour event. For the other four and three-quarter hours it is a piece of the room.
That is the argument for a dressed backdrop rather than an equipment-only booth: a good flower wall is décor all night and a photo point some of the night. An empty booth with a curtain is a piece of equipment standing in a corner.
It is also why we recommend putting it somewhere it contributes to the room's look rather than tucking it out of the way.
Sizing for the group shots that actually happen
The photographs people care about at a South Asian event are family group shots — eight, ten, twelve people at a time, three generations.
A backdrop sized for a couple will not take them, and the group will drift somewhere else in the room to fit. Tell us the largest group you expect and we size the build for it; that one number is what makes the difference, and nobody thinks to ask it.
