Faya's Florals is the floral side of the studio, and it runs on a simple principle: the flowers people actually hold and wear matter more than the flowers on a table nobody sits at.

We make both fresh and artificial, and we will tell you which is right for your event rather than defaulting to whichever is more profitable.

Fresh or artificial — the honest answer

Fresh flowers are better in the hand and better up close. They also have a hard limit: they are made within a day or two of the event, they wilt in heat, and in an Ottawa winter they suffer badly in the time it takes to get from a car to a building.

Artificial is made further ahead, survives a long day across multiple venues, holds an exact colour you have chosen, and can be kept afterwards. For garlands worn for six hours, for winter events, and for anything travelling between venues, it is usually the right call.

For bridal bouquets and close-up floral jewellery, fresh is worth it if the timing allows. We are happy to mix — fresh where it is held, artificial where it hangs.

Colour matching

We match to your outfit, not to a catalogue. Send a photo of the fabric — that is genuinely the most useful thing you can give us, more than a colour name, because 'maroon' covers about forty different shades and outfits are rarely photographed accurately.

Custom colours in artificial need a few weeks. Fresh is limited to what the market has that week, which we will tell you plainly rather than promising a shade nobody can source.
