About Events by Faya

Events by Faya is an Ottawa event décor studio. We build wedding and ceremony décor, floral design and event rentals across Ottawa, Gatineau and the National Capital Region.

We started as Shehnai in 2020, doing wedding rentals for Ottawa's South Asian community, and rebranded to Events by Faya as the work grew beyond rentals into full ceremony décor and floral design.

What we actually specialise in

Most Ottawa decorators can build a backdrop. Far fewer own an Arsi Mushaf mirror, a nikah divider curtain dressed on both sides, a set of Rajasthani umbrellas, a takhat, or the materials to make a gotta-worked sehra.

We built our inventory around the ceremonies our clients actually hold — mayon, dholki, mehndi, sangeet, jago, nikah, barat, walima, baat pakki, Dua-e-Khair, aqiqah and Eid — because approximating them with general party décor does not work and the families can tell.

Budget-friendly, and what we mean by it

We say budget-friendly because it is accurate, not as a discount pitch. What it means in practice is that we tell you where money changes the photographs and where it does not.

Lighting and a properly built backdrop change every image taken that night. A larger floral budget spent on detail nobody stands near does not. On a constrained budget we will steer you toward the first — and we would rather do that than sell you the largest quote you would accept.

How we work

• We deliver, install and strike everything ourselves. It is not subcontracted and setup and takedown are always included.
• Everything is freestanding. No wall fixings, no ceiling rigging, no tape — which is why we can work in masjids, municipal halls, condo party rooms and heritage properties.
• We size to the room, not to a package. Ceiling height is the first thing we ask about, because a stage built for the wrong room is the most expensive mistake in this business.
• We quote honestly. If your access window will not carry the build you want, we will say so a month out rather than run late on the day.
