Dholki is the least formal night of the wedding week and, for a lot of families, the most fun. The dhol comes out, everybody sings, and it happens in somebody's house.
Because it is at home, there is no venue doing any of the work. A dholki setup is the whole difference between a party in a living room and an event.
What a dholki setup looks like

The 90s-style dholki
We get asked for this specifically and we enjoy building it: heavy colour, mirror-work, floor seating, no stage — the way dholkis looked before they started borrowing from wedding receptions.
It is a deliberately unpolished aesthetic and it photographs with far more character than a pastel backdrop. If that is the night you actually want, ask for it by name.
Working in an Ottawa house
Home events are constrained in ways halls are not: eight-foot ceilings, narrow stairs, furniture that has to be moved and a floor that cannot be marked. Everything we bring is freestanding and sized for domestic rooms.
We will ask for a photo of the space before quoting. It takes a minute and it stops us proposing something that will not physically fit through your door.

A dholki is the informal singing night before a Pakistani wedding, named after the dhol drum. Family and friends gather — usually at home — to sing traditional wedding songs, often over several evenings in the run-up to the wedding.
It is the most relaxed event of the week and typically the one with the fewest guests.

Yes — most Ottawa dholkis we do are in exactly those spaces. Our stands are freestanding and sized for domestic ceilings, and nothing attaches to walls or floors.
The practical limits are doorway width and ceiling height, which is why we ask for a photo first.
Often yes, if it is at your home and the room is not needed. Multi-night dholkis are common and leaving the setup standing is much cheaper than rebuilding it.
